Certified Angus Beef Expands Global Reach with New Processing Partners in Uruguay

Partners-in-Uruguay.jpg

The Certified Angus Beef ® brand has expanded its partner network in Uruguay through new processing partnerships, making the brand's premium beef more readily available in select international markets, while maintaining its uncompromising standards for quality, consistency and integrity.

New production in Uruguay with partners Las Piedras and Pando, strengthen the brand's ability to serve underpenetrated international markets outside the U.S. and Canada, where demand for premium beef continues to grow. Developed through more than two years of collaboration and investment, the partnerships include the implementation of grading technologies and brand safeguards that uphold the quality, consistency and trust synonymous with Certified Angus Beef.

URUGUAY FAQS

Certified Angus Beef began production in Uruguay after several years of evaluating potential international partners, production systems and market opportunities. Following extensive collaboration with local packing partners and validation of grading, certification and quality control systems, the brand launched production in spring 2026. This is an effort to expand access to Certified Angus Beef ® products in international markets where availability has historically been limited.

Uruguay emerged as the right fit because beef production there aligns with the brand's commitment to quality, consistency and integrity. The country’s cattle herd has a strong Angus, a well-established grain-finishing sector and modern packing facilities that utilize globally recognized food safety protocols. Uruguay also uses camera grading technology for quality and yield measurements that are equivalent to that utilized in the U.S., providing confidence in upholding the brand’s strict quality standards.

For more than a decade, Certified Angus Beef has explored ways to better serve growing demand in international markets that historically have been difficult to access through U.S. and Canadian production alone. Launching production in Uruguay creates new opportunities to reach customers in underpenetrated markets, including portions of the European Union and other regions where demand for premium beef exists but Certified Angus Beef ® product availability has been limited.

No. Product produced under the Certified Angus Beef ® brand label in Uruguay is intended for international markets only. It will not be imported into the United States or Canada. The goal is not to replace U.S. or Canadian production, but rather to serve customers and global markets that the brand cannot fully reach today through existing supply chains.

Yes. All Certified Angus Beef ® product produced in Uruguay must meet the brand's 10 quality standards to deliver the same premium eating experience customers expect from the brand. While some specifications are adapted to Uruguay's grading system, they are designed to be equivalent to U.S. and Canadian requirements. In some cases, the specifications in Uruguay are tighter than those in North America.

The Certified Angus Beef ® brand works closely with its Uruguay partners, including Pando and Las Piedras, to ensure compliance with all brand requirements. The facilities utilize camera grading systems and verification processes like those used by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and licensed packers in the U.S. and Canada. The Certified Angus Beef Production team reviews processes, performance and compliance measures to ensure products meet the brand's standards worldwide.
